MGM against the US anti online gambling laws

Metro Golden Mayer (MGM), one of the most traditional American brands, is not only the great studio that has brought us the best movies of our lives. In the last decades, MGM has not only achieved its main goals as the first movie studios of all times but also has gained appreciation in other industries, like MGM's hospitality branch, one of the insignias of Las Vegas and its popular strip. MGM Resorts International, the Nevada based MGM's gaming and Hospitality Company, tops the world's rankings as is one of the two largest gaming company in the world. The group of resort casinos and other residential developments with all kind of services and amenities has been opposite to the main idea from Las Vegas big casinos, like Sheldon Adelson's company, Las Vegas Sand Cooperation: ban the online gambling industry.

MGM has thrown a campaign that is backing the online gambling industry in the state of Nevada; the campaign against the online gambling ban is being supported by groups like the Coalition for Consumer and Online Protection. The group is trying to battle Sheldon Adelson's efforts and his Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling group, a group that has already the public support from 10 state attorneys to continue with their traditional way to ban every single movement that can bring some parity and equality to the US citizens and companies.

Alan Feldman, MGM Resorts International executive vice-president, said: "It is critical for people that oppose the ban to get vocal in order to combat claims by Adelson and his own campaign. He is using that, he is going to use that, and we have to argue the facts on our side. He is not making a secret of his positions. We should not be secretive about ours. He’s playing on people’s fears, he’s making all kinds of claims and making all kinds of accusations that simply aren’t true, so we’re going to stick to the facts and hope that the facts might win out". Mary Bono, former congressional representative and now Faegre BD Consulting, said: "I try to compare it to the similarities we witnessed the film and television and music industries go through. I think the lessons we’ve learned now is it’s impossible to stand in the way of the internet and it’s best to embrace it and try to shape it".
