United States authorities have recently conducted an investigation which outcome resulted on 17 suspects arrested. The suspects have been part of an online gambling organization that has been illegally providing online betting services. The organization has been able to provide betting services to 2000 gamblers, reaching several millions of dollars in bets. The suspects come from three different states of the country but the websites are not located inside of the United States, one of the strategies that illegal websites are putting in practice these days. New York, California and Nevada are the three US states where federal authorities conducted the investigation, resulting in 17 suspects arrested, doctors and medical lab technicians among the ones from New York.
The main architect of this plot is an Irani from Cyrus who resides in Santa Clarita, California. The rest of the suspects were part of the accounting department of the company. The company was able to collect more than $32 million a year by placing bets on the main US spots leagues such as NFL and NBL. The investigation started when the authorities were able to follow a trail of credit cards and bank accounts with suspicious movements. The plot used San Francisco online service provider Nexus Guard to route the data from the web site located outside of the country, 365action.com. The site was actually located in Panama.to prevent U.S. jurisdiction to shut it down. But the site had already changed service providers several times to prevent the US authorities from follow the trail. Even though the website has been illegally operating in the United States, the company seems to believe that are operating under Costa Rican jurisdiction.
