Indiana's lawmaker introduces bills for Daily Fantasy Sports and Sports Betting

The US state of Indiana is considering a new bill for daily fantasy sports and sports bets. The two bills have been introduced by Indiana’s legislator, State Representative Alan Morrison. One of the bills would focus on legalizing sports betting and the other would work on the daily fantasy sports bets. Morrison wants to boost the dilapidated Indiana’s gaming market, an industry that has been supported by the state’s racinos and riverboat casinos. Morrison has introduced the first of the two bills, HB 1073, as a measure for Indiana's riverboats, racinos, and off-track betting establishments, to offer legal sports betting services: "Gaming is something that this state has become extremely reliant upon, that revenue. As it's been trending down, it is incumbent upon us to figure out how to fix it or to improve on what we have. If it were to become legal in July, let us say, that would back us up another year before we could start the process. So if we have it on the books… we'd be ahead of the game on that". The second bill introduced by Morrison, HB 1074, will allow racinos to offer daily fantasy sports wagers, although the daily fantasy market is not totally legal and Indiana residents are allowed to enter in daily fantasy contests.

The Indiana’s legislator, State Representative Alan Morrison, will have to get through to two barricades that are blocking the road to regulated gambling markets. The first one is Indiana Governor Mike Pence, a Sheldon Adelson’s supporter who does not want any kind of development on online gambling: "It has never been the intention of my administration to promote policies that either expand or contract gaming in our state. But I'm going to make it very clear to legislators that our administration will not support any expansion of gaming in the state of Indiana”. The second problem that Alan Morrison will face is the NCAA, one of the worst groups from the sports network in the US, which is also based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
