The gambling regulator of New Jersey, the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), has had to make a decision on online gambling affiliates who are offering unlicensed sites to residents of the state of New Jersey. Last week, New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) Director David Rebuck made out public a Director’s Advisory Bulletin to make sure everyone understands the current situation. New Jersey has been the gambling state with the best mindset when it came to online gambling, but it seems that many of the affiliates in the Garden State do not see it. DGE’s Director, David Rebuck, wants to make affiliates and players aware of the threats that illegal online gambling sites will bring to the table. The Official statement, DGE Director’s Advisory Bulletin, reveals that half of dozen large affiliates received a letter on April 17th, 2014; these sites were hosting links and ads from illegal online gambling sites, unlicensed and located offshore. Some came out stating that they were being targeted (PokerSource.com, RakeBrain.com, RaketheRake.com, CardsChat.com, and PokerSites.com).
New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has made clear that the online gambling marker must remain within legal margins, as NJ legislation states: “Promoting Gambling Defined. A person is guilty of promoting gambling when he knowingly… shall be subject to a fine of not more than $25,000 and in the case of a person other than a natural person, to a fine of not more than $100,000 any other appropriate disposition authorized by subsection b. of N.J.S.2C:43-2.”, David Rebuck said. On the other hand, DGE’s Director David Rebuck stated that some of these activities related to promoting illegal sites, will not be condemned if they began before November 26th, 2013, but only if affiliates stop promoting these illegal sites within 150 days of June 4th. At the same time, NJ DGE wants to clear the market out of possible threats. Affiliates are taking a risk for promoting illegal gambling sites after 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
