Stars Group Launches BetStars Online Sports Betting in New Jersey

Another company has joined the growing list of mobile sports betting providers in New Jersey. The Stars Group announced in a recent press release that it will join 888Sport and other sportsbook platforms as part of New Jersey's decision to legalize online sports wagering. Betting on sports is now legal for all residents of New Jersey that are 21 years of age or older. 

The Stars Group is no stranger to the online gambling industry. The company owns recognized gaming brands like PokerStars and Full Tilt, and it has been providing online betting to millions of customers for many years. BetStars is the sports betting imprint of the company. 

Sports betting in New Jersey has gotten off to a tremendous start since it was introduced in June of 2018. Bettors have wagered in excess of $152 million on football, basketball, boxing, and other sporting events. The massive popularity has encouraged more gaming providers to seek a license from the state. 

In the month of August alone more than $95 million was bet on sporting events, most of it on professional football. Gaming companies are acting quickly to try and gain a foothold in the New Jersey market before the regular football season gets underway. 

The new BetStars app is available for Android and iOS devices, and it is currently available for download. The app provides access to live wagering. Individuals must create an account with BetStars and verify their identity before they are allowed to make wagers. Once this is complete, bettors have access to a full menu of betting options for multiple sporting events. 

The app includes all the features that one would find in a Las Vegas sportsbook. Bettors can wager on the spread of games or play a money line. Parlay bets are also available. All wagering at BetStars is overseen by the New Jersey Gaming Commission. 

Many expect that other states will soon follow the lead of Nevada, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania in legalizing mobile sports betting. Several states have already introduced legislation that will be taken up during the next session.
